Pakistan’s Test Cricket Year in Review: 2 Wins Out of 5, Shan Masood Tops Runs

Lahore: The Pakistani cricket team struggled to make a significant impact in Test cricket this year, managing only 2 victories out of 5 matches. Shan Masood emerged as the leading run-scorer with 397 runs, and the team’s only century of the year came from the captain himself.
Pakistan played only five Test matches in 2025. The year began with a tough loss against South Africa in the Cape Town Test, where Pakistan was defeated by 10 wickets.
During the home series against West Indies in Multan, Pakistan drew 1-1. The team won the first match by a commanding 127 runs but lost the second by 120 runs.
Against South Africa in Lahore, Pakistan secured a 93-run victory, but the return match in Rawalpindi ended in an 8-wicket defeat.
The Green Caps’ highest innings total of the year was 478 runs in Cape Town against South Africa, while the lowest was 133 runs in the Multan Test against West Indies.
Captain Shan Masood scored the most runs for Pakistan with 397, followed by Mohammad Rizwan with 360, and Babar Azam with 315. The only century of the year came from the captain, while Shan Masood and Babar Azam both recorded three fifties each.
Spinner Nauman Ali led the bowling charts with 30 wickets, Sajid Khan took 21, and Abrar Ahmed claimed 7 wickets. Nauman Ali also achieved the best bowling figures of the year, taking 6 wickets for just 41 runs.
Behind the stumps, Mohammad Rizwan caught 18 dismissals. Notably, Shan Masood and Babar Azam forged the biggest opening partnership of the year with 205 runs during the Cape Town Test.
