PTA bans SIM sale from 12 midnight to 6 am

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has taken a major step to stop the issuance of illegal SIMs and has directed all mobile companies to suspend the sale of SIM cards across the country from 12 midnight to 6 am. All Franchises, Retailers and Sale Points will be bound by this ban and strict action will be taken against violators under Telecom laws.

According to PTA, this decision has been taken in view of the increasing use of fake and illegal SIMs as SIM sales during night hours have been mostly used for suspicious activities.

Citizens have been directed to purchase SIMs only from authorized centers during the stipulated hours and to get Biometric verification done before activation. If any violation of the ban is found, it can be reported on PTA Complaint Management System, PTA CMS App, WhatsApp Digital Assistant or Toll Free Number.Sonnet 4.6
