Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa has said that the long schedule of the Indian Premier League proves difficult for foreign players, which is why he preferred to participate in the Pakistan Super League this time.
Speaking in Lahore, Zampa said that short-duration T20 leagues are better for players as it reduces physical stress and makes it easier to maintain performance.
He said that although his initial plan was to rest this season, the short duration of the PSL persuaded him to play. According to Zampa, the IPL lasts for about two and a half months, which if reduced, can provide considerable relief to the players.
It should be noted that Zampa became a part of the PSL draft for the first time where Karachi Kings included him in their team. His performance has played a major role in giving the team a strong start in the event.
Zampa also said that in the IPL, foreign spinners, especially leg-spinners, do not get the opportunities that are given in other leagues. According to him, his first priority now is to play for Australia and maintain his fitness so that he can fully participate in the upcoming major events.
