State Bank's big move to increase ease for IT exporters and freelancers

State Bank of Pakistan has announced new facilities for IT exporters and freelancers, aimed at making the business process easier and faster.

Under these reforms, IT companies and freelancers will no longer be required to submit Form “R” for every transaction. Instead, a single declaration will be sufficient at the time of opening an account, which will significantly reduce paperwork.

In addition, a maximum of one business day has been set for processing export funds and overseas remittances, which will make the payment system faster and more efficient.

State Bank of Pakistan has also standardized the documentary requirements for obtaining services abroad so that a uniform procedure can be adopted across all banks. Banks have also been directed to establish an effective system for prompt redressal of complaints.

For further improvement, the limit of Form “R” has been increased to 25 thousand US dollars, while instructions have also been issued to make Forms “R” and “M” digital so that users can get more convenience.

According to experts, these measures will not only facilitate the IT sector but can also lead to an increase in Pakistan’s IT exports.
