Weekly inflation slows slightly, still at 14.47% on an annual basis

According to the latest report of the Federal Bureau of Statistics, after three consecutive weeks of rising inflation, the weekly growth rate has decreased by 0.33 percent this week. However, on an annual basis, inflation is still at a high level of 14.47 percent, which is no less than good news for the common man but not a big relief either.
This week, 26 items became expensive, 11 became cheaper and the prices of 14 remained stable. The items that became expensive include tomatoes by 7.17 percent, onions by 6.08 percent, flour by 1.84 percent and potatoes by 0.87 percent. The items that became cheaper include chicken by 8.56 percent, electricity by 6.08 percent, garlic by 3.53 percent, petrol and diesel by 1.21 percent and eggs by 0.10 percent.
The burden of inflation on different income groups is as follows:
- Up to Rs. 17,732 per month: 11.79 percent
- Rs. 17,733 to Rs. 22,888: 14.32 percent
- Rs. 22,889 to Rs. 29,517: 12.84 percent
- Rs. 29,518 to Rs. 44,175: 12.81 percent
More than Rs. 44,176: 14.17 percent
Interestingly, the burden of inflation on the lowest and highest income groups is higher than that of the middle income group.
