The Pakistan cricket team not only reached the Super 8 stage by presenting a brilliant performance in the recent T20 World Cup, but also ensured its participation in the next world event in 2028 with this success. According to ICC rules, teams that reach the Super 8 are directly selected for the next World Cup, and Pakistan also made a place under the same principle.
Along with Pakistan, India, England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, South Africa, West Indies and Zimbabwe will also participate directly in the 2028 T20 World Cup, while Australia’s participation as the host has already been decided. This event will be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand and a total of 20 teams will participate in it.
The selection of the remaining teams will be completed through world rankings and regional qualifying tournaments. Pakistan had reached the Super 8 stage by achieving a big victory against Namibia in the 2026 World Cup, which formed the basis for its direct participation in the next World Cup.
