IPL Bars Three English Cricketers, Including Ben Stokes, From Next Mini Auction

The Indian Premier League has closed its doors on three prominent England players — Ben Stokes, Harry Brook, and Jason Roy — preventing them from participating in next year’s mini-auction.
According to sources familiar with league regulations, the trio will remain ineligible due to procedural rules surrounding player registration. Stokes did not submit his name for the mega auction this year, which automatically rules him out of the upcoming mini-auction as well.
In a similar case, Harry Brook withdrew his name at the final moment in 2025 citing personal reasons and therefore cannot re-enter for the next edition. Meanwhile, Jason Roy failed to register for the 2025 auction and had already stepped away in 2024, resulting in his exclusion for the upcoming league cycle.
The situation highlights a growing trend where international stars appear to be reassessing their commitments. Earlier, South Africa’s Faf du Plessis and England’s Moeen Ali indicated that their preference lies with the Pakistan Super League over the IPL. Australia’s Glenn Maxwell has also decided to sit out the IPL as part of his future planning.
