Bangladesh beat India to win SAFF U-20 Championship

Bangladesh U20 Football Team performed brilliantly to win the SAFF U-20 Championship 2026 title by defeating India U20 Football Team.

The final played in Male, Maldives witnessed a thrilling contest between the two teams, however, neither team could score a goal in the stipulated time. After this, the match was decided on a penalty shootout where Bangladesh won 3-4.

During the penalty shootout, India's Rishikanta Leshrim's first kick was saved by Bangladesh goalkeeper Ismail Hossain Mahin, while Omung Dodam's last attempt went over the crossbar, ensuring Bangladesh's victory.

MD Arbash, Samson Ahongshangbum and Vishal Yadav scored goals for India, however, the team failed to defend the title.

With this victory, Bangladesh won the title for the second time, while the four-time champion Indian team faced defeat in the final.
