SIFC Aims to Build a Modern, Secure, and Globally Competitive Digital Nation in Pakistan

The Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) is committed to establishing a modern, secure, and globally competitive digital nation in Pakistan.

According to details, the country has witnessed historic expansion in its submarine cable infrastructure over the past year. With the arrival of 2Africa and Africa1 cables in 2024, Pakistan has gained access to high-speed international data links.

Pakistan’s ninth submarine cable, SeaMeWe-6, has now landed on the Pakistani coastline and is being considered a landmark achievement for the telecom sector.

The 21,000-kilometer-long SeaMeWe-6 cable stretches from France to Singapore and provides Pakistan with 40% additional internet capacity. In the last year alone, Pakistan has also added two new TWA cables and one PTCL cable to its network.

In total, the country now has six active submarine cables, with three new cables recently added, marking a positive step forward. To boost innovation in the IT and telecom sector, Transworld has also announced an initial addition of four terabytes per second of extra capacity.
