Meta Introduces New Feature Allowing Facebook Group Members to Use Nicknames and Avatars

Tech company Meta has introduced a new feature for Facebook Groups that lets users hide their real identity and post using a custom nickname and avatar.

With this update, group members can now share posts under any nickname they choose, as long as the feature is enabled by the group’s admin. Meta says that group admins must activate the option, and in some cases, individual approvals may also be required.

Once approved, users can switch freely between their real name and their selected nickname. However, all nicknames must follow Meta’s Community Standards and Terms of Service.

While choosing a nickname, users will also be able to select a special type of avatar—mostly fun images featuring animals wearing sunglasses.
