PCB's big decision, Dawson Shanaka banned for one year in PSL

The Pakistan Cricket Board has banned Sri Lankan all-rounder Dasun Shanaka from participating in the Pakistan Super League for one year.

According to a statement issued by the board, a detailed review of the contractual matters between Dasun Shanaka and Lahore Qalandars was conducted, after which a final decision was taken regarding the player’s eligibility for future editions.

According to the PCB, the unilateral withdrawal from the tournament on March 21, 2026, was a clear violation of the terms of the player registration and the tripartite agreement. The board took the position that the reasons given by the player were not acceptable under the contractual framework.

The statement said that although Dasun Shanaka’s expression of regret and his commitment to play in Pakistan were taken into account during the hearing, action was necessary to maintain the discipline and reputation of the league.

As per the decision, Dasun Shanaka has been declared ineligible to participate in the upcoming season PSL 12.

In his statement, Dasun Shanaka said that he deeply regrets the decision to withdraw from the PSL.
