Pakistan to Lose Points and Net Run Rate After Boycotting India Match in T20 World Cup

The Government of Pakistan has decided that the national cricket team will boycott its scheduled match against India in the ICC T20 World Cup.
According to details, Pakistan will suffer a major setback due to the boycott, as the team will lose two crucial points along with a significant impact on its net run rate (NRR). In contrast, India will be awarded two points without playing, while its net run rate will remain unaffected.
Under ICC Playing Condition Clause 16.10.7, if a team refuses to play a match, its net run rate is calculated as if the team had played the full 20 overs. This means Pakistan will be deemed to have batted for all 20 overs without scoring a single run, resulting in a heavy negative effect on its NRR.
Meanwhile, India will be considered the winner by default, gaining full points without any statistical damage.
It is worth noting that the ICC T20 World Cup will begin on February 7. Pakistan has been placed in Group A alongside India, Namibia, the Netherlands, and the United States.
Pakistan will start its campaign on February 7 against the Netherlands, followed by a match against the United States on February 10, while its final group match will be played against Namibia on February 18.
The boycott decision could prove costly for Pakistan’s qualification chances, as net run rate often plays a decisive role in tight group standings.
