FIFA President Gianni Infantino has made it clear that Iran will play all of its FIFA World Cup 2026 matches in the United States as scheduled.
His statement dismissed speculation that Iran wanted to move its matches to Mexico due to security concerns.
Earlier, the Iranian Football Federation had confirmed talks on a possible transfer of the matches, while the Mexican leadership had also offered to host the initial matches. However, the FIFA President categorically stated that all matches would be held as per the draw and there would be no changes.
It should be noted that the 2026 World Cup is being jointly hosted by the United States, Mexico and Canada, and the event will start on June 11.
Iran will play its first match against the New Zealand national football team in Los Angeles.
It should be remembered that Donald Trump also made a statement regarding security concerns in recent days, to which Iran reacted strongly. FIFA stressed that all teams will participate in the event and that the game will be used to promote peace and unity.
