After a reduction of Rs 5 per litre in petrol and diesel, OGRA has also issued a notification for a reduction of Rs 7.23 in the price of kerosene. The new price has been reduced from Rs 318.96 per litre to Rs 311.73 per litre and it is effective from May 16.
Last night, petrol was reduced from Rs 414.78 to Rs 409.78 and high-speed diesel from Rs 414.58 to Rs 409.58 per litre.
However, it should be remembered that last week itself, a major increase of about Rs 15 was made in petrol and Rs 15 in diesel. Before this, on April 29, diesel had increased by Rs 19.39 and Rs 6.51 in petrol. That is, this reduction is very minor compared to the big increases that have occurred in a few weeks and the burden on the pocket of the common man is still greater than before.
