The Punjab government has given a major relief to traders in view of Eid-ul-Adha. Under the energy saving program, the order to close shops at 8 pm has been suspended till June 1. This exemption includes shops, markets, shopping malls, hotels, restaurants and food outlets.
Rawalpindi Deputy Commissioner Dr. Hassan Waqar Cheema has also issued a separate notification for the city, under which the traders there have also got the same facility.
Farooq Chaudhry, President of Hotels Bakers Restaurants Association and Saleem Pervez Butt, President of Kirana Merchant Association welcomed the decision and said that there is a shopping season on the occasion of Eid and business was being badly affected by the early closure.
It should be noted that under the energy saving program, general shops were required to close at 8 pm while vegetable, fruit, bakers and hotels were required to close by 10 pm. Now this ban will not be in effect till June 1.
