Rashid Khan rejects citizenship offers, prefers to play for Afghanistan

Afghanistan cricket team captain Rashid Khan has set a great example of loyalty to his country by rejecting offers of citizenship from two different countries.

The new book Rashid Khan: From Streets to Stardom reveals that Rashid Khan was offered citizenship and representation for their national teams by India and Australia, but he refused on both occasions.

According to the book’s author Mohammad Haand Jafar, Rashid Khan said that if he could not play for Afghanistan, he would not represent any other country.

Rashid Khan, referring to the 2023 Indian Premier League season, said that an Indian cricket official offered him residence, documents and the opportunity to play cricket in India, which he gratefully rejected.

He further revealed that a similar offer was also made by Australia, but he flatly refused to accept it.

It should be noted that Rashid Khan is considered one of the world's leading bowlers due to his outstanding performance in T20 cricket and is also among the highest wicket-takers in this format.
