Royal Challengers Bangalore batsman Tim David has been suspended for the first match of IPL 2027.
According to Indian media reports, Tim David has been punished for aggressively throwing an ice bag at umpire Nitin Menon during the match against Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final.
This was his third Level 1 offence this season. He will have to pay a fine of 50 percent of his match fee for this offence and has also received two demerit points. As a result, his total of demerit points in the last 36 months has reached 5, due to which he has been banned for one match.
The incident occurred in the tenth over of Gujarat's innings when Jordan Cox was caught not out off Washington Sundar.
Under Article 2.9 of the IPL Code of Conduct, it is an offence to throw cricket equipment at any person in a dangerous or inappropriate manner. It should be noted that Tim David had committed such a violation twice earlier this season.
