ByteDance (the company that owns TikTok) founder Zheng Yiming has overtaken Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani as Asia’s second richest person.
According to the latest ranking of the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zheng Yiming’s total wealth has reached US$92.8 billion, making him the second richest person in Asia.
Only Gautam Adani is ahead of him with a fortune of US$97.9 billion, while Mukesh Ambani has moved to third place with US$86.9 billion.
This extraordinary increase in Zheng’s wealth is mainly the result of ByteDance’s growing value, TikTok’s global popularity and the company’s rapid progress in the field of artificial intelligence. In particular, ByteDance’s AI chatbot Dubao has gained more than 300 million monthly users in China.
The recent increase has added more than $24 billion to Zheng Yiming's personal wealth, according to Bloomberg.
Zheng founded ByteDance in 2012 and his wealth has increased more than sevenfold since 2019.
