Google claims to have found hackers who created zero-day exploits with AI

Researchers at technology company Google have claimed to have uncovered evidence for the first time that cybercriminals used artificial intelligence (AI) to create the most dangerous type of cybersecurity flaw, a zero-day exploit.

According to the Google Threat Intelligence Group (GTIG) team, cyberattackers created a dangerous zero-day exploit with the help of AI. A zero-day flaw is one that even software developers are not aware of, meaning they have absolutely no time to defend against it.

In a report released on Monday, Google researchers wrote that this is the first time they have identified a group that created a zero-day exploit with the help of AI.

According to the report, the criminal group was planning to use the flaw for large-scale cyber attacks, but thanks to Google’s timely action and early detection, this dangerous attack was likely thwarted.
