WhatsApp Web Introduces Voice and Video Calling Feature

Meta's popular messaging platform WhatsApp has long-awaited voice and video calling in its web version, allowing users to make calls directly from their browser.

Until now, WhatsApp Web users were limited to sending and receiving messages, while a mobile or desktop app was required for calling. After the new update, voice and video calls can be initiated from the web browser in individual chats, without any additional apps.

According to Meta, all calls made on the web will be end-to-end encrypted, meaning the conversation will only be between the caller and the recipient, and neither WhatsApp nor any third party will be able to listen to or record it.

This new feature also includes screen sharing, which allows users to share their screen with another person during a call, which can be useful for online meetings and presentations. Initially, this facility is limited to one-to-one calls, however, in the future there is a possibility of introducing group calls on the web, which can include up to 32 people.

Currently, this feature is available to users using WhatsApp Web beta, while it will soon be introduced to all users in a phased manner. According to experts, after this update, WhatsApp Web will become a complete communication tool, which can be easily used even without a mobile phone.
