The 2026 FIFA World Cup will not only be a battleground for the title, but could also be the last appearance on the world stage for many great footballers.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Portugal)

Ronaldo, 41, will play in a record sixth World Cup. He could become the first player to score 150 international goals, but has yet to win a World Cup trophy.

Lionel Messi (Argentina)

Messi, 38, will also play in his sixth World Cup and will lead defending champions Argentina.

Luka Modric (Croatia)

Modric, 40, will play in his fifth and possibly final World Cup.

Neymar Jr. (Brazil)

Neymar, 34, could also be playing in his final World Cup.

Mohamed Salah (Egypt)

This will be Salah, 33,'s second and possibly final World Cup.

Kevin De Bruyne (Belgium)

De Bruyne, 35, will play in his fourth and possibly final World Cup.

Virgil van Dijk (Netherlands)

Guillermo Ochoa (Mexico)

Ochoa, 41, will play his sixth World Cup and will retire from international football after the tournament.
The 2026 World Cup will start on June 11 in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
