In the fifth match of the ongoing tri-nation ODI series in Lahore, Sri Lanka won the toss and invited Pakistan to bat first; however, the national team's top order faced difficulties early on.
By the end of 12 overs, Pakistan had scored 58 runs for the loss of 3 wickets. Maaz Sadaqat returned to the pavilion after scoring 8 runs, while Fakhar Zaman and Saad Baig managed only 5 runs each. Babar Azam and Salman Ali Agha were at the crease.
Shaheen Afridi’s Aim for a 300-Run Total
Following the toss, Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi stated that he would have also preferred to bowl first; however, the team’s objective now is to post a substantial total and set Sri Lanka a target of 300 runs.
Sri Lanka entered this match having previously chased down the second-highest target in the history of ODI cricket against England. The visiting side retained the same playing XI from their previous match, while Pakistan made two changes.
Two Changes to the Pakistan Side
Maaz Sadaqat and Naseem Shah were brought into the national team, replacing Saim Ayub and Razaullah. Having remained undefeated in all their previous matches, Pakistan has already secured a spot in the final of the tri-nation series.
