In a significant step toward digital transformation, the Special Communications Organization (SCO) has established 100 modern IT centers across Azad Jammu & Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, creating new opportunities for youth and strengthening Pakistan’s digital future.
Under the strategic vision of Pakistan’s military leadership and the DG SCO, the region has entered a new era of technological progress. Young people in Muzaffarabad, Bagh, Bhimber, Dadyal, Kotli, Mirpur, Rawalakot, and Hajira are now benefiting from advanced training facilities, freelancing hubs, and software technology parks.
These initiatives are helping youth achieve economic independence and digital skills, while 49 remote freelancing hubs are opening fresh avenues for employment and professional growth.
One of the standout achievements is Pakistan’s first Women’s Software Technology Park in Muzaffarabad, which has become a symbol of women’s empowerment. SCO has also launched a special freelancing hub for differently-abled individuals, along with providing a free dedicated vehicle—a move widely praised for promoting social inclusion.
The IT parks and hubs are equipped with high-speed internet, uninterrupted power supply, and state-of-the-art facilities. Currently, more than 400 young people in AJK are directly benefiting from SCO’s projects, while over 500 successful freelancers are earning independently and contributing to the national economy.
With an estimated $20 million in digital revenue, SCO’s initiatives are paving the way for a new chapter in Pakistan’s journey toward digital self-reliance.
