Ranveer Singh Faces New Controversy Over ‘Bhuta Kola’ Act Amid Ongoing Legal Cases

Indian actor Ranveer Singh, who recently faced criticism for mimicking Rishabh Shetty, is now embroiled in a new controversy. A complaint has been filed against him in Bangalore by local lawyer Prashant Methal, alleging that the actor disrespected Hindu traditions, specifically the sacred practices of ‘Bhuta Kola’ and ‘Deva’, thereby hurting religious sentiments.

Police confirmed that no FIR has been registered yet, but pressure from Hindu extremist groups is increasing. A crowd reportedly tried to surround the police station, which officers managed to control, although tensions remain high.

Ranveer Singh has remained silent on the matter so far, while his legal team is reviewing the case and planning the next steps.

The controversy stems from a performance at a film award show in Goa, where Ranveer mimicked a character played by filmmaker Rishabh Shetty from the movie ‘Kantara’. This act had already sparked criticism and prompted Ranveer to issue an Instagram clarification, stating: “Brothers and sisters! My intention was only to appreciate Rishabh Shetty’s performance. There was no intention to disrespect any tradition, culture, or belief.”

Despite the clarification, anger continued to grow. The Hindu Jana Jagruti Samiti has now formally lodged a complaint alleging that Ranveer insulted Devi Chamunda during his act.

As a result, Ranveer Singh is now facing multiple cases across two states, all stemming from a single performance. Despite these legal challenges, the actor remains busy with the promotions of his new film ‘Dhoorandhar’, which was released today.
