PTA warns citizens, issues important instructions to protect against fake SIMs

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has issued important instructions to citizens to prevent the issuance of fake SIMs.

According to the PTA, citizens should avoid getting free SIMs from intersections or markets and always buy new SIMs from the customer service center of the mobile company or an authorized franchise.

The authority has warned that consumers should ensure that no SIM is registered on their identity card without their permission, as this can lead to legal issues.

The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority says that getting biometric verification done in the guise of a free SIM can prove dangerous, as multiple SIMs can be issued on the same identity card through fraud.

Furthermore, citizens have been instructed to immediately block unnecessary or unused SIMs registered in their name to avoid any possible fraud.

The PTA has clarified that by following these precautions, not only can consumers protect themselves but also help in eliminating telecom fraud in the country.
