New rule in PSL 11, captains start selecting playing XI after toss

The opening match of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League witnessed a new and interesting tradition, which caught the attention of both fans and pundits.

Lahore Qalandars captain Shaheen Afridi and Hyderabad Kingsmen captain Marnus Labuschagne came out with two team sheets each at the toss.

According to the new rule, each captain can submit two different team combinations to the match referee before the toss, and after the toss, he chooses one of them as the final playing XI.

Once the team is finalized, no changes can be made to it without the permission of the opposing captain, which makes strategy even more important.

This rule is especially important in night matches, where dew is a big factor. The spinners face difficulties due to the ball getting wet in the second innings, so teams can choose their combinations according to the conditions.

This new system will give teams more flexibility, such as allowing the team batting first to add an extra fast bowler while the team chasing the target can strengthen their batting.

However, the effect of dew was not significant due to the weather in the first match of the season, but this law could have a major impact on the teams' strategy in the upcoming matches.
