Google Chrome introduces major privacy feature on Android

Google has added a feature to the Android version of Chrome that users have been waiting for for a long time. Now Chrome users will be able to share their approximate location instead of their exact location. In simple words, no website will be able to know which street, building or room you are sitting in.

Before this, Chrome always asked the user for Precise Location, which privacy experts have called an unnecessary and dangerous practice. Most websites actually do not need such a detailed location of yours, just knowing the approximate area is enough for them. For example, a website that tells the weather is enough to know that you are in Karachi, it is not necessary to know which house in which neighborhood of Karachi you are.

However, Google has also thought that some apps and services really need precise location, such as Maps or Ride Hailing services. Therefore, users will be able to turn on Precise Location at will. That is, the control will be completely in the hands of the user and not the website.

In addition, Google is also soon introducing a new API through which Web developers will be able to specify in advance whether they want a user's approximate location or a complete location. This will also make websites more transparent and users will have a better idea of how much information a site is using.

Experts are calling this update a significant step in the world of online privacy. At a time when big technology companies are constantly accused of collecting user data, Google's decision is a bit different because it is giving users more control over their personal information than before.
