Meta Announces the Closure of the Messenger app

Meta, the company that owns social media platforms Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram, has decided to phase out its messaging app Messenger.

According to international media reports, the company will completely deactivate the Messenger app from April 15, 2026. After that, users will not be able to send or receive messages, photos, videos or files on this platform.

According to the announcement, if a user tries to open Messenger, he will automatically be transferred to the built-in messaging system within Facebook, where the chat service will continue to be available.

The company has started giving users advance notice so that they can prepare to use an alternative method before the app is closed.
