FIFA orders Egypt team to remove 7 stars from jersey

Egypt's national football team, which is participating in the 2026 FIFA World Cup, has been ordered to make an emergency kit change just days before their first match.
Under new and strict rules imposed by FIFA, the world football body has ordered the Egyptian team to remove all seven prominent stars from their jerseys.
The stars symbolize Egypt's record seven African Cup of Nations (AFCON) victories and are considered a sign of pride in the country's footballing heritage. However, FIFA has declared them ineligible for the World Cup.
Under the new kit rules, teams will not be allowed to display symbols representing continental tournament victories on their jerseys.
According to FIFA regulations, only symbols that represent winning the World Cup title can be displayed during the World Cup.
