The magical world of Harry Potter is making a comeback, this time as a television series with a brand-new cast. HBO’s Harry Potter TV series reboot is set to release in 2027, introducing new actors in the roles of the original “golden trio” — Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley.
The first green signal for the series was given on April 12, 2023, at the Warner Bros Discovery press event. According to HBO, the series will follow the original books closely, rather than creating a new storyline, with each season adapting one book.
David Zaslav, CEO of Warner Bros Discovery, confirmed that the cast will be entirely new and that the series will remain true to J.K. Rowling’s original Harry Potter novels.
Production of the series began on July 14, 2025, and the first season is expected to premiere in 2027. Scottish actor Dominic McLaughlin has been cast as Harry Potter, impressing fans instantly with the iconic school uniform and the scar on his forehead.
This TV adaptation promises to bring the magic of Hogwarts to life for a new generation of viewers while staying faithful to the stories that have captured the hearts of millions worldwide.
