Apple has joined hands with Amazon. Under this deal, Amazon will now take over Globalstar, which is currently providing satellite connectivity to the iPhone and Apple Watch. Apple launched this facility in 2022 with the iPhone 14 and also invested in Globalstar.
Amazon has been building its own satellite network "Amazon Kuiper" for a long time to bring internet to remote areas and compete with Starlink. According to Amazon CEO Andy Jassy, this service will start in mid-2026 and thousands of more satellites will be sent into space later.
Apple users need not worry, their satellite service will continue to work as before, but with Amazon's new system, it will become even better. Amazon's Panos Panay has said that they will continue to work to provide better connectivity to Apple users.
Another thing is that Amazon has also created a high-speed internet system for airplanes and Delta Air Lines has signed a contract for it, which will start in 2028. Meanwhile, Starlink is already providing in-flight internet to Qatar Airways and British Airways.
