NEPRA licenses for solar users, load shedding also started to decrease

In the news related to solar net metering, it was revealed that NEPRA license has been made mandatory for consumers installing solar systems, however, the spokesperson of the Power Division has clarified that there has been a misreporting regarding the role of the federal government in this matter. He says that this license is part of NEPRA’s own regulations and the electricity distribution companies implement them, no order from the federal government or the Power Division is involved in this nor has any position been taken from them.

Regarding the electricity situation, the Power Division says that due to the increase in electricity generation in the country, load shedding during peak hours has reduced and is now limited to areas with high losses. 5125 MW of electricity was generated by releasing excess water from dams, while 400 MW of transmission from the south to the center also continued.

However, the unavailability of LNG is still a major problem due to which 5500 MW of power plants are shut down. According to the spokesperson, as soon as LNG becomes available, peak-time load shedding will also be completely eliminated.
