An AI-generated short film clip is going viral on social media, with what is said to be the production value of a traditional high-budget film worth around $200 million, despite being made by artificial intelligence in just one day.
The video was released by German creative studio The Dor Brothers, and features scenes of destroyed cities, explosions and cinematic camera movements. The three-minute science fiction clip did not use real actors, did not build sets or involve the long work of a traditional visual effects team.
According to the studio, the video was created entirely with AI tools, with everything from ideation to visual design and editing being done by automated systems. Typically, such cinematic scenes take months to create and require large VFX teams, but here it was all possible in a matter of hours.
After the clip went viral, online users’ reactions were mixed. Many praised the realistic quality of the scenes and the camerawork, while some critics highlighted physics errors, a lack of characters, and a weak story, calling it a technical demonstration rather than a full-fledged film.
According to experts, the experiment shows that AI can now quickly create large-scale cinematic scenes, but there is still a lot of room for elements such as human emotion, characterization, and strong narrative. Nevertheless, such projects are raising questions about the future of the film and visual effects industry, as AI could play a significant role in the production of long-form feature films in the future.
