Tesla's decision to reduce Cybertruck production

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has announced that the company will scale down production of the Cybertruck at its Texas factory before halting it entirely by the middle of next year. This decision is attributed to low sales, with the company shifting its focus toward ramping up production of a new model, the Cybercab.
Elon Musk shared details of this plan in a post on the social media platform X on Friday. According to him, ending Cybertruck production at the Texas Gigafactory will allow for an increase in the manufacturing of the Cybercab.
Plan to Scale Up Cybercab Production
Tesla introduced the Cybercab as part of its strategy to enter the robotaxi industry. Musk stated that by ceasing Cybertruck production by mid-next year, the company will be able to repurpose its factory capacity for the Cybercab.
Cybertruck Design and Political Controversy
Tesla first announced the Cybertruck in 2019. Its angular design and stainless-steel exterior sparked polarized opinions from the very beginning.
Over time, the vehicle also became a symbol of opposition toward Elon Musk, as he became increasingly active in American politics. During this period, Musk also briefly led the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under the administration of former U.S. President Donald Trump—an initiative tasked with implementing changes across federal government institutions and agencies.
