Testing a new vertical tabs feature in Google Chrome

Google is preparing to introduce a new feature for Chrome users that will display open website tabs vertically along the side of the browser, rather than at the top. This change will make it easier for users who work with multiple web pages simultaneously to locate the specific tab they need.

All tabs will appear on the side

According to reports, Google is working on a scrollable vertical tab bar for Chrome. With this feature, all open web pages will be arranged along one side, allowing users to scroll through them to find the website they are looking for.

Currently, tabs in Chrome appear in a top bar, where space becomes limited when many websites are opened. A vertical tab layout is already available in some other browsers, including Firefox.

Feature not yet available to all users

Google has announced this new feature on its support page; however, it has not yet been released to the general public. In the initial phase, it can be tested via Chrome Canary.

This feature will be particularly useful for individuals who work with dozens of tabs open at once, whereas it may be less necessary for those who typically use only a small number of websites.
