The system of trade associations and chambers has started going digital, making business affairs easier

Pakistan Single Window (PSW) and Directorate General of Trade Organizations (DGTO) have jointly started the work of digitizing the system of trade associations and Chambers of Commerce in the country. A consultative meeting was held in this regard in which representatives of Chambers and trade associations of Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and North Punjab participated.

It was decided in the meeting that the entire process of registration, renewal, reporting and monitoring of trade organizations will be automated. This means that in future, all these tasks will be done online without visiting offices. Officials say that this step will connect the data of trade organizations to the central system, reduce manual operations and provide accurate information for policy making.

Terming this step as the need of the hour, Sardar Tahir Mahmood, President of Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said that PSW understood an important need of the business community and took timely action. He also said that digital reforms will improve the transparency and accountability system along with the ease of doing business.

This development is being described as an important step towards a data-driven trading system in Pakistan and is also being described as part of an effort to align with global business standards.
