In the changing global context, Pakistan is rapidly emerging as a major trading hub, with significant growth in maritime activities.
Karachi Port, Port Qasim and Gwadar Port have witnessed unprecedented growth in cargo handling and transshipment activities in recent days.
According to reports, the transshipment volume at Karachi Port in the last 24 days alone is almost equal to that of the entire year 2025. In 2025, around 8,300 containers were handled here, while in the last 24 days this number reached 8,313.
According to international sources, Pakistan’s importance has increased due to the ongoing tensions in the Gulf region and changes in shipping routes, and many global companies have turned to Pakistani ports as alternative routes.
Furthermore, the government’s relaxation of transshipment rules and provision of modern facilities at ports have also improved the sector. The handling of thousands of containers at various terminals, such as the South Asia Pakistan Terminal and others, is proof that the infrastructure is improving.
According to experts, projects like the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, improved security situation, and government policies have played a significant role in making Pakistan a strong logistics and trade hub in the region.
Overall, this development is not only a positive sign for the country's economy but is also being seen as evidence of increased confidence among global investors.
