Pakistan sees huge increase in mobile phone imports, exceeding Rs 364 billion in 8 months

Pakistan continues to rely on mobile phone imports during the current fiscal year, with total imports reaching Rs 364.68 billion in the first eight months.

According to data released by the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics, mobile phone imports recorded a 31.10 percent increase from July 2025 to February 2026, while the year-on-year increase was 18.27 percent in February 2026.

However, there was some decline on a monthly basis, with imports recording a 13.35 percent decline in February 2026. During February, Pakistan imported mobile phones worth Rs 43.56 billion, while in January 2026, this volume was Rs 50.27 billion.

According to the document, during the same period last year, i.e. July 2024 to February 2025, mobile phone imports were Rs 278.16 billion, which shows a significant increase this year.

According to experts, although the local assembly of mobile phones is increasing, imports continue due to high demand in the country.
