5G service likely to start in Islamabad on Eid-ul-Fitr

The government has decided that on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr, modern 5G service will be provided to citizens in some areas of Islamabad, so that they can benefit from the fastest internet.

In this regard, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has completed all arrangements for issuing 5G licenses to telecom companies and it is likely that the licenses will be issued immediately.

According to officials, all the companies have submitted the necessary bank guarantees, and as soon as the licenses are issued, they can start the service on the occasion of Eid. The three major telecom companies will be given licenses at the same time.

Under the terms of the license, each company will have to provide a bank guarantee of $ 15 million, while they will have to install at least 1000 new telecom sites across the country. In addition, it will also be mandatory to install 200 sites in remote and low-coverage areas.

According to sources, 480 MHz out of 597 MHz was sold in the recent 5G spectrum auction, which is expected to generate revenue of about $510 million for the government.

This development could mark the beginning of a new era of high-speed internet in Pakistan, especially in urban areas where the demand for digital services is growing rapidly.
