New AI feature in Google Maps “Ask Maps”, It is Possible to Find a Place by Asking a Question

A new AI feature called “Ask Maps” is being introduced in the world’s most popular navigation service, Google Maps, which will allow users to find their desired location by asking a direct question instead of a general search. It is being said that this is one of the major updates to the app in more than a decade.

This new tool is based on Artificial Intelligence. Through it, users can also ask detailed real-life questions instead of simple keyword searches. For example, a user can find out where there is a tennis court with lights at night, or where to find a hair salon that offers special services for curly hair.

The answers to this feature are obtained from various sources. These include the user’s previous search records, activities, websites, photos and comments from other people, which makes the results more accurate and personalized.

According to the company, this system gets information from about 300 million places around the world and 500 million user reviews. This increases the likelihood that users will get better and more useful results according to their needs.

Miriam Daniel at Google said in an interview that this change is a significant development for the platform. According to her, Maps will now work slightly differently for each user and will help people complete their plans faster.

With this new feature, travelers will be able to easily find information about famous landmarks, local places and restaurants in a city. For example, if someone searches for popular places in a city, the app can show results with photos, ratings, reviews and other details.

Similarly, it will also be possible to find out whether a restaurant has the facility to take food with you and how long the wait might be.

The design of driving directions has also been changed in this update. Some buildings will be shown in a transparent way on the map so that drivers can see the turns and route better.

According to the company, these new features are being introduced in a phased manner in the mobile app, with plans to add them to Apple CarPlay soon. “Ask Maps” and other AI tools will be rolled out to more users in the coming weeks.
