PTA Bans Increase in Monthly Prices of Mobile Packages

Taking notice of public complaints, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has stopped telecom companies from increasing the prices of mobile packages on a monthly basis. According to the new decision, prior permission from the PTA will be mandatory before launching any new package or increasing the price of an existing package.

The PTA has also removed the facility for mobile companies to increase the price of a package 30 days after its introduction. Now, the regulator’s approval will be required for any change.

According to officials, under the new regulations, the prices of mobile packages will not be increased every month but only on a quarterly basis. The aim of this move is to maintain balance in the telecom market and protect consumers from unnecessary price hikes.

In this regard, Mobile Tariff Regulations 2025 have been implemented under which new restrictions have been imposed on telecom operators and their activities will be strictly monitored.

According to sources, companies may be allowed to increase prices by about 10 to 20 percent compared to last year, but regulatory approval will be required for this too.
