Government's new smartphone policy, strict conditions on security and quality

The government of Pakistan has introduced a new policy for the purchase of smartphones, in which performance and security are given central importance.

According to reports, the National Information Technology Board requires about 24,000 new Android smartphones, and clear technical standards have been set for this purpose. Approval from the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority has been made mandatory for all these devices to prevent the use of unregistered or substandard phones.

The phones purchased under the policy must have modern performance with strong security features. This includes data protection, secure communication, and reliable software support for official use.

An important condition has also been set that all devices must be brand new, meaning used or refurbished mobiles will not be allowed, so as to avoid potential security risks.

Overall, this move is being described as a significant step towards better use of technology in government institutions, strengthening cybersecurity, and establishing a secure digital system.
