iPhone users in Pakistan will be deprived of 5G until 2027, Apple flatly denies

5G has been launched in Pakistan, but there is bad news for iPhone users. Apple has officially informed Pakistani authorities that it will not enable 5G on its handsets here for the time being and a decision on this will be taken after assessing the market in 2027.

According to officials from the Ministry of IT and Telecom, Apple’s stance is linked to its shrinking market in Pakistan. Experts say that due to heavy taxes on imported mobile phones, the iPhone has become very expensive in Pakistan, which has limited the company’s user base and Apple is not ready to invest in such a small market yet.

On the other hand, 5G is already working on Samsung smartphones, which has further increased the disappointment among iPhone users.

The government had completed the auction of 5G spectrum worth $507 million in March this year, in which a total of 480 MHz spectrum was sold. All telecom operators have placed orders for the equipment required for 5G and the service has even started on a trial basis in some areas. But despite all this, iPhone users will have to wait at least another year and a half.
