Google's Snapseed app returns with a major update after two years

There is good news for photography enthusiasts. The new version v4.0 of Google's famous professional photo editing app Snapseed has been released simultaneously for both Android and iOS on Friday, May 8, 2026. This update has been introduced after an official announcement by the app's Product Lead Giles Oakes.

This update is especially important for Android users because the last time this app was updated was on May 23, 2024, meaning this new version has arrived after a wait of almost two years. The update that comes after such a long gap has made a lot of changes that make it better than before.

The biggest change in this new version is the User Interface. The UI has been redesigned on both Android and iOS platforms, which is cleaner to look at and easier to use. In addition, a brand new feature Snapseed Camera has been introduced in the Android version, which is an In-App Camera Function. This camera includes Film Filter features that give the image a special filmic and vintage look. This feature was already available in the iOS version and was quite popular there, now Android users have finally got this facility too.

Snapseed is a free app, but its tools and features are of professional level, which is why it is loved by photographers and photo editing enthusiasts around the world.
