Digitalization of Lahore's Liberty Market, an important step towards a cashless economy

To promote digital payments in Pakistan, Zindigi, which is supported by JS Bank, has successfully launched the digitalization of the city’s leading commercial hub Liberty Market in collaboration with State Bank of Pakistan Lahore.

The initiative is being hailed as a major milestone in promoting financial inclusion and progress towards a cashless economy in Pakistan. Moving one of Lahore’s busiest markets to a digital system is not only a practical example but can also be adopted in other markets across the country.

Under this project, through Zindigi Raast QR, shopkeepers can now receive instant and secure payments from any bank or digital wallet, while the “scan and pay” process has been made faster and easier for customers. This will significantly improve the speed, transparency and security of transactions.

During the event, Zindigi’s Chief Business Officer Atif Ishaq said that the aim of this initiative is to connect local businesses with modern payment systems so that shopkeepers can easily receive payments and customers can make digital transactions with confidence.

The event was attended by senior officials from Zindigi and the State Bank, as well as representatives from the district administration and the business community of Liberty Market, who appreciated the project and termed it a positive step for the country’s economy.

According to experts, such initiatives will not only promote digital payments but also help in making business activities more transparent, which could benefit Pakistan’s economy in the long run.
