Ball tampering case, Fakhar Zaman faces two-match ban

The Pakistan Cricket Board has suspended Fakhar Zaman for two matches for the ball-tampering incident that took place during the Pakistan Super League 11.

According to the PCB, Fakhar Zaman was found guilty of a level three offence under clause 2.14 of the Code of Conduct, after which this action was taken against him.

The matter came to light on March 29 in the match between Lahore Qalandars and Karachi Kings, where Fakhar Zaman was seen tampering with the ball in the final overs. The umpires took immediate action and changed the ball and also penalised Lahore Qalandars with five runs.

Initially, Fakhar Zaman denied the charge and requested a formal hearing. Later, match referee Roshan Mahanama gave the decision after reviewing all the evidence and hearing the player’s position.

Due to the ban, Fakhar Zaman will now not be able to play in his team’s next two important matches, against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United.
