WhatsApp Status feature is coming with major changes, transparency will increase

WhatsApp is introducing two major changes to its Status feature that are aimed at reducing confusion and increasing transparency for users. These changes are currently being tested in beta.

The first change concerns statuses from unknown numbers. Many times, users see statuses from people who are not saved in their contact list, which confuses users. WhatsApp will now display an explanatory message explaining why the status is appearing, for example, it will be shown due to a recent conversation or call.

The second change concerns reshared statuses. WhatsApp previously labeled such statuses as 'Reshared' to make it clear that the content was originally created by someone else. Now, this label will be made more prominent and clear so that users can immediately understand that it is not the original content but has been shared further. However, keeping in mind the privacy, the identity of the original poster will not be revealed.
