WhatsApp announces end of support for older iPhones

WhatsApp has decided to end support for several older iPhones as part of its new update cycle. WhatsApp will no longer work on iPhones that cannot run iOS 15.1 or later. This move is to improve security, improve performance, and ensure compatibility with new features.
The affected models include the iPhone 5, iPhone 5c, iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, and iPhone 6 Plus, as all of these devices cannot be upgraded to iOS 15.1. WhatsApp will initially experience a gradual reduction in support on these devices, and messaging will eventually stop altogether.
It should be noted that WhatsApp has also announced that it will end support for Android 5.0 and 5.1 users from September 2026. Users who have these older models should consider getting a new phone as soon as possible so that WhatsApp continues to work without interruption.
