It is good news for Pakistan cricket that the International Cricket Council (ICC) has awarded Pakistan the hosting rights for the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028.
This decision was approved in the recent ICC meeting. Earlier, Pakistan has hosted many major events including the Champions Trophy and now it has also been awarded the hosting rights for the Women’s T20 World Cup.
A total of 12 teams will participate in the Women’s T20 World Cup 2028. According to the tournament format, 10 teams will qualify directly, including the top eight teams from the 2026 Women’s T20 World Cup, hosts Pakistan (if not already qualified) and the next highest team in the ICC Women’s T20 rankings.
The remaining two teams will be decided through the Global Qualifier tournament.
The ICC has also decided that India’s matches will be played at neutral venues. The full details and schedule of the tournament will be decided at the next ICC meeting in July.
