New Zealand beat Ireland by an innings and 79 runs

New Zealand defeated Ireland by an innings and 79 runs in the only Test match played in Belfast. Ireland won the toss and invited New Zealand to bat first, but this decision cost them dearly.

New Zealand's first 4 wickets fell quickly, but then Rachin Ravindra played a brilliant innings of 121 and Tom Blundell 186 runs and together they built a partnership of 217 runs. Tom Blundell then built a partnership of 158 runs with Dane Foxcroft, after which New Zealand declared the innings at 490 for 8.

Mark Adair was the most successful bowler for Ireland with 3 wickets.
Ireland's first innings ended at just 179 runs and Follow On became a must. Nathan Smith wreaked havoc by taking 6 wickets. Ireland could not go beyond 232 runs in the second innings and Blair Tickner ended the match by taking 5 wickets.
